Archive Gateway to Multiple Archive Technologies • Access to all Data from Archive via NFS/CIFS • Scale to Multi-Petabytes • Simplified Management Consolidates Workflows onto a Single Platform
MODERN DATA ARCHIVING CHALLENGES
As data continues to grow at an incredible rate, the administration and protection of ever-increasing archives is becoming more expensive and difficult to manage. Often, archiving solutions are unable to target more cost effective targets, like tape. The inability to archive efficiently and at a low price also limits the ability to properly manage long-term data growth. Additionally, when archive solutions lack retention management features, businesses are not capable to meet the varying compliance needs of their diverse organizational needs. The ideal solution should be able to archive to any target the customer requires, can scale to meet extreme data growth, and is sufficiently equipped to efficiently manage and protect archive data.
A SINGLE SOLUTION FOR ALL YOUR ARCHIVING NEEDS
- Supports choice of optimized propriety or industry standard file systems
- Access to all data from archive via NFS/CIFS
- Consolidates workflows on a single platform
- Secure, long-term data security and management—online and offline
- Scales to multiple Petabytes
- Robust retention management with encryption and digital signature
- Policy-based tiered storage and data migration with mirroring and data replication
To give users the maximum choice of archive storage technologies and to prevent vendor lock-in, WOS ArchiveDirector delivers archiving to WOS with replication capabilities to tape or public cloud for disaster recovery—all on the server of your choice. Not only does ArchiveDirector provide users with the widest variety of targeting options, but also with the scalability, flexibility and low total cost of ownership benefits that makes DDN an industry leader in storage. All of this comes with the most powerful features for data retention management and data protection strategies available today.
INDUSTRY-LEADING FLEXIBILITY AND SCALABILITY
Easily scalable from terabytes to multiple petabytes, ArchiveDirector’s supremely flexible software platform can manage and archive a massive number of files using any archive storage including tape, optical, RDX, disk, object storage or cloud. The software supports a choice of proprietary or industry standard file systems such as LTFS (for tape) or UDF (for optical).
To protect valuable archive data, a robust retention management feature creates policies to prevent deliberate or accidental deletion and over-writes of data in the archive, and also provides an audit trail infrastructure for reporting purposes. The software securely retains files in a read-only format, within the archive, for a pre-determined period of time. Multiple retention periods can be created to support different data sets to meet varying compliance needs.
DATA PROTECTION STRATEGIES
An archive using ArchiveDirector software offers several data protection strategies. With ArchiveDirector, a media-copy feature automatically creates a duplicate copy of selected archive volumes for offline and offsite storage. In addition, older data sets that are infrequently accessed can also be taken offline to a deep archive.
