DDN starts exhibiting today at the NAB show in Las Vegas. We are here telling our story about how we are “Advancing Storage for Media.” If you are involved with your company’s marketing department you are probably familiar with the process of coming up with taglines for industry events and product announcements. Many companies, unfortunately, promote solutions that may or may not be the most effective and efficient for customers, and then wrap their products in messaging and hype in order to make up for any deficiencies.

I’m happy to report that we don’t make or drink Kool-Aid at DDN. When we say we are advancing storage for media, it’s because we are! We are truly advancing storage to a whole new way of supporting the entire life cycle of data for the creative process. NAB main

We have a simple solution that seamlessly combines many of the tiers or stages that have for years been separate systems (tier one, tier two, online, nearline, scratch, archive, etc.) that are expensive to own and difficult to manage and scale. This one solution has the highest performance file-based production tier in the world allowing customers to ingest, edit, render and transcode the highest resolutions from multiple sources simultaneously. Furthermore, our solution is seamlessly combined with our high performance object storage platform that scales to trillions of objects and enables easy collaboration, distribution, and archiving. The term we have adopted for the object storage part is “active archive,” but it is important to understand that we are taking the “active” nature of the archive to its extreme with multiple GB/s of read and write. It is this seamless combination of file and object storage, high performance and affordable storage, and tier one and active archive storage into a single storage solution that is truly advancing storage for media.

All LogosSpeaking of enabling collaboration, at NAB Show we will be joined by our customers Deluxe Entertainment and Level 3 Communications for live demos to show how DDN’s advanced storage solutions are aiding their workflows and business. Our partners at ASG Software Solutions, with whom we chatted last week on the DDN blog, are also demoing every day at 2 p.m. PT. We’re also joining our Active Archive Alliance partners for a panel session on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. PT to discuss how active archive is taking storage for media and entertainment to the next level.

If you are at the show, please come see us at booth SL8016. We have refreshments – not Kool-Aid, but coffee, water, sodas, and two hours of free beer on Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m. PT. Skip the cab lines and join us! We came prepared with comfortable chairs so that we could sit down with you to talk about optimizing media workflows.

Remember to follow @ddn_limitless and our #StorageForMedia hashtag on Twitter where we have been sharing cool movie trivia and plan to share updates on all the live action from the show.
